About the owners of Oasi Oil

My wife Alison and I had long wanted to enjoy significant time overseas beyond the usual confines and experiences as a simple tourist (although that is a lot of fun, too).  As such, once our two kids had left for university, we bought a camper van and, without delay, hit the road for a 4-month road trip, touring France, Spain and Italy. While on the road, we kept our eyes open in case we came across an opportunity that would whet our appetite for self-sufficiency and simpler living. Whilst we were open to living in any of the three countries we were visiting, it was in Italy that we found our little gem. A rundown, two up, two down farmhouse in the south of Italy, an hour’s drive from Naples International Airport and pretty much slap bang in the middle of the country. This meant we were also approx an hour’s drive to either the east or west coasts of the peninsula and around 90 minutes to the idyllic Amalfi region of southern Italy. On top of that, our little gem also had a decent piece of land connected to it, with: olive, almond, walnut, fig, apricot and plum trees, as well as a grapevine with the best-tasting grapes I’ve ever eaten growing a few yards away from our front door. The only thing it missed was the iconic lemon tree, which (as you might imagine) we have now put right, having planted one pretty much as soon as we arrived.
